On today’s episode, we’ll be discussing a topic that is being talked about a lot this week – Donald Trump’s re-election chances for 2020. Given that Trump has been Acquitted in the Senate following an enormously popular state of the union address, there’s plenty of reason for optimism with his supporters.
However, we recorded this podcast a few days ago before his SOTU and acquittal. Our discussion on this episode centered on two things – Trump’s mastery of persuasive rhetoric and charismatic ability to engage, and stir up his base of supporters. Based on these attributes, we believe Donald Trump is a shoo-in for reelection in 2020.
If you have any doubts about Trump’s ability to persuade, I highly recommend Scott Adam’s recent book Win Bigly: Persuasion in a World Where Facts Don’t Matter.
In doing some show prep, Sean dug up a great article we’ll reference on what Aristotle can teach us on Trump’s rhetoric.
Featured Beer
On this episode, I’m having an Amber from Abita Brewing Co. It’s a Munich style lager brewed with pale and caramel malts and German Perle hops. The Amber is Abita’s most versatile beer for pairing with food and has been voted “best beer” in numerous New Orleans reader polls.
Sean is having another No Collusion Russian Imperial Stout from Strange Land Brewery. This beer has been aged for nine months in bourbon barrels. And like Trump’s case, no collusion was found to have occurred at any point during the production of this brew.
Enjoy the show and cheers!
